Oriel Beaded Shrug…in kit form

Oriel as a shrug fastened with abalone buttons

Oriel is an extremely versatile design that can be worn buttoned as either a shrug, cowl or if you prefer, unbuttoned as a scarf. It’s an unashamedly feminine design knitted in my Baby Alpaca DK (and shown here in sh 9517 Menthe) which means it’s so soft that once you’ve draped it over your chilly shoulders you won’t want to take it off.

The Oriel stitch is a beautifully textured lace pattern combining yarn overs, decreases and purl stitches.  These build to create a fish scale effect that begins with delicate beaded droplets at the cast on edges that travels toward the grafted centre of the design with beaded accents highlighting the centre of each motif. (Oh yes. the beads, once more I couldn’t resist dropping in a touch of sparkle). This design was originally published in Knitting Magazine but I thought with the festive season on the horizon it’s the perfect time to release the pattern.

You can either buy the pattern as a pdf on Ravelry here or you can pre-order an exclusive knitting kit here. Oriel is the first design to launch my new range of kits which will only be available through www.jeanettesloandesign.com. The kits contain everything you need to make the shrug including yarn, beads, buttons, stitch markers, darning needles – even needle and thread for threading on all those gorgeous beads. You’ll receive the pattern as a pdf download and all you have to do is get your needles ready ( they’re not included in the kit) for when the postie arrives with your bundle of delights.

The kit is available in a choice of 5 gorgeous yarn and bead combinations, some subtle like Menthe & Clear above and some like the Fuchsia & Orange are definitely more ‘in your face’ and not for the colour shy.

If you Pre Order an Oriel Knitting Kit there’s free shipping too so for more information click and here.
