Unravel(led) and Unpacked..well almost

Well since my last post the house has continued to improve and although we’re not quite there yet we do actually have a fully functioning kitchen! That said,  there are still unpacked boxes everywhere, my clothes are covered in inches of masonry dust that never seems to stop settling and half our possessions are still in storage somewhere in Edinburgh  waiting to make the journey 500 miles south. I’m hoping that within a month we’ll be able to settle into life without building work, dust, the smell of paint or a tradesman arriving at 8 o’clock in the morning. So whilst we’re still living in a little bit of chaos I’m trying to work as there’s a lot going on in the next month.

First off there’s Unravel which takes place this weekend

I’ve heard lots of good this about this festival which boasts not just knitting but workshops, talks, handspun yarns and a fashion show. It’s also a good opportunity to catch up with old friends so I’m looking forward to seeing Susie Johnson from the Wool Sanctuary (who I haven’t seen since the days when we both worked for Rowan) and Fiona Henderson of High Fibre Design (who I used to work with at Bucks New University). If you’re in the area why not pop along and say hello? I’ll be there with lots of beautifully soft yarns to squish, patterns and tomorrow I’ll be making up some kits to take along too.

The other really exciting thing happening in the next month is that I’ll be travelling over to Germany for the Handarbeit & Hobby trade show where I’ll be launching some new designs for the Baby Alpaca DK and Baby Alpaca / Silk 4ply yarns. For now though I think I’ll try and get an early night….you can guarantee there’ll be someone smelling of paint knocking at the door in the morning.
