Back from the smoke and goodbye duppdupp

Well fresh ( ok not exactly fresh, we got back late on Sunday ) from the smoke Summer’s finally hit Edinburgh and though it’s not like Summer in the south east where you can expect to see the sun for a whole day, it’s  warm and although we may not get the full on heat of cities like London  up here the air is clear. So I’ve finally brought an end to my duppdupp online shop. Please don’t place orders through the site as I don’t have any stock left. The site will be removed on the 1st of July. If you’re a Boye needle lover and worried about getting withdrawal symptons keep checking back as there will be some good news about where to get them in the next few weeks.

I’ve got some very interesting projects coming up that need my full attention and so duppdupp.com had to go. I’m planning to continue making the lovely needlecases and in fact that’s what I’m doing today, working on an order of 4 cases, 3 down, 1 to go and then it’s down to getting through the list of ‘to dos’ that has to be checked off before we get away to Provence on hols. Wahey!

The wind down continues..

It’s taken me much longer than I’d hoped ( there’s a LOT going on at the moment ) but I’ve just added some more markdowns to SALE at duppdupp here.
There’s 3 for 2 on all circular needles, single points and crochet hooks, 30% off all double pointed needles plus reductions on yarn sleeves, crochet hook sets & KnitMates Points & cables

I haven’t started on the buttons yet but they’re going to be reduced to, right now I’m off to bed.

Being productive . ..

I seem to spend a lot of my time at a laptop keyboard these days ( if you’ve ever seen me type you’ll know why) but this week has been set aside for being productive. I’ll be making new stock of needle cases for Make Do And Knit next month  and finally getting round to making up the pin boxes – honest. Making the cases is a lovely process as I can just whack the music up in the studio ( it’s Stevie Wonder today ) and get out the sewing machine, all that lovely fabric, gorgeous buttons and begin playing. I haven’t done any knitted ones for ages so I’ll be on the 10gg  knitting up fabric for those too, that’ll tone up the bingo wings. When I get to the point of choosing the buttons for each case it really feels like putting the final  touch on something I’ve loved making and hope it’s enjoyed almost as much by whoever receives it.

Here’s to a good week . . .

Make Do and Knit, 27th & 27th March 2010

This is another brilliant event organised by the very talented Susan Crawford of Knitonthenet ( together with some other talented folk ).

It’s a two day knitting and making fair with a vintage feel and as well as fashion shows and a cafe there’ll also be carefully selected retailers offering a wide selection of high quality knitting, spinning, dressmaking and haberdashery supplies. One of the things I loved about working in Jenners on Princes Street some years ago was the old style feel of their haberdashery department, sadly that’s gone along with that particular type of customer service. Bring back department stores like Grace Brothers!

I’ll be at Make Do and Knit with lots of goodies from duppdupp including a new collection of needle & hook cases, buttons, Boye needles & hooks and the hand turned pin boxes that I didn’t quite manage to get onto the website in time for Christmas ~ oops! I’ll also be taking Kitglobal kits so there’ll be a chance for anyone  who doesn’t know how soft our Baby Alpaca is to come and have a feel for themselves. There’s a newly formed Make Do and Knit group on Ravelry so join up here , say hello and spread the word.

Have a lovely weekend all

duppdupp Gift Vouchers . . .at last

I designed these weeks ago but just hadn’t got the chance to get them onto the site. I think the problem is I spent too much time tweaking with how they look (typical ) anyway they’re up at www.duppdupp.com just in time for the final push towards Christmas.

There’s a different design for each denonimation and they start at just a fiver. I can personalise them and send them to the lucky recipient ribbon tied and at no extra cost!

I’m multi-tasking at the mo working on another design for The Knitter and making more needle cases so I’m off . . . .

PS Thanks Anne for the suggestion that I actually wear a pair of my fingerless mittens to combat the finger freeze I had last post. I think my brain must have been frozen too as it didn’t even cross my mind

The Knitter Loves . . . duppdupp!

TKN loves

‘The Knitter’ magazine loves these fab ‘Wheel’ Shell buttons which recently arrived in stock at www.duppdupp.com . I could easily spend a fortune ( if I had one ) on buttons as I’ve always felt that they really ‘make or break’ the look of a garment or accessory. These buttons are part of the latest collection that I’ve bought in really limited numbers so I’m not exaggerating when I say get them before they’re gone. I was really keen to find big, beautiful & unusual styles in various finishes – etched shell, printed nut, printed metal, transparent with a print . . in fact the best thing is to just have a look!

By the way I’ve got this particular design in 2 sizes – XLarge or Small.
